The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television presents a Special Award for Outstanding Achievement in Make-Up to Stephan Dupuis for his exceptional make-up, prosthetic and tattoo work on actor Viggo Mortensen for the character Nikolai Luzhin in the film Eastern Promises. Sponsored by M·A·C Cosmetics, it is the fourth time that this award has been presented at the Genie Awards.

While attending university, Montreal-born Stephan Dupuis got his start when hired to assist on Alvin Rakoff's City on Fire and ultimately led the FX make-up department on the project. He was invited by make-up artistry icon Dick Smith to New York, upon graduating from Sir George Williams Campus with a Masters Degree in Cinema Fine Arts. Mr. Dupuis worked on the Academy Award-winning make-up for Jean-Jacques Annaud's Quest for Fire, and then collaborated on David Cronenberg's Scanners. This was the beginning of a long-standing working partnership with Mr. Cronenberg that included such films as Naked Lunch, Crash, eXistenZ, Spider, A History of Violence and The Fly, for which Mr. Dupuis was nominated for a BAFTA Award and won an Academy Award. Moreover, he has earned three Emmy Award nominations for his make-up on Stalin, Rudy: The Rudy Giuliani Story and The Reagans. Among Mr. Dupuis's impressive film credits are Enemy Mine, RoboCop, Total Recall, Stephen Spielberg's blockbuster Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Cape Fear, The Man Without a Face, Mrs. Doubtfire, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, The Assassination of Richard Nixon and Francis Lawrence's newly released I Am Legend.

For over 25 years, Stephan Dupuis' skill, creativity and attention to genre has set standards of excellence worldwide. One of the most respected make-up designers working today, his artistry in the craft has created some of the most recognizable work in the industry.
